When Meg boasts that John is her prisoner, the boys visit a friend of their father's to get information about demonic possessions and ways to trap a demon. It turns out Meg is not what she appears.
You cocked the shotgun and everything.
and then he leaves the real gun
with you two chuckleheads.
I killed him myself.
"tribuite virtutem deo".
He begged for his life
with tears in his eyes.
"humiliare sub potenti manu

"ut inimicos sanctae ecclesiae
Dean, he wouldn't want us to bring the gun.
They get the gun,
they will kill us all.
we've got to get out of here.
He just needed a little rest,
Man, I'm trying to thank you here.
- Check it, okay?
You're not my dad.
You want to know why?
he's clearly John's favorite.

To obtain a mystic gun capable of destroying the demon that killed their mother, Sam and Dean must team up with their father John and face off against vampires.
A woman in Iowa fell 10,000 feet
from an airplane and survived.
At first they said
it was some sort of bear attack,
Whatever attacked him,
looks like there was more than one.
Because I had to make sure
you weren't followed...
You never even
mentioned them, dad.
It looks like
they're heading west.
He barks orders at us, Dean.
They'll know the signs
and come looking for us.
'Cause dad thinks we got
the vampires' trail.
Look, we're all tired.
We can talk about this later.
Are you gonna kill me?
Welcome home, baby.
It doesn't mean
they won't wake up.
It's just a story...
the day you were born,
you know what I did?
And all I cared about
was keeping you boys alive.
It never occurred to me
what you wanted.
We're stronger as a family, dad.
We just are. You know it.
It's just a truck
up on the highway.

The Winchesters must deal with a dangerous spirit bound to an old family portrait that brings misfortune and death to anyone who buys it.
Dean, uh, no thanks.
I can get my own dates.
He always kept his eyes peeled
for another one.
- Oh, good times.
- I checked the history of the house.
And I think it's time to leave.
And what was the providence?
Hey, alright, I think
I've got something here.
What are you doing here?
Maybe we should do it again sometime.
Don't tell me you're interested in that?
What were their names again?
A wife, two sons,
adopted daughter... Yeah, yeah.
- It could give us some clues.
- What, like a "DaVinci Code" deal?
Who did you sell it to?
Who is killing these people?
You're not jocking.
I think we're alright in daylight.
- Yeah, they're only 4.
- Yeah, mom and the 3 kids.
Well, this isn't exactly the first grave
Like the... they would use
the kids' real hair.
Come on, come on!
She killed them?

Sam and Dean battle a Shtriga, a witch that sneaks into childrens' bedrooms and sucks the lives out of them. Dean must relive his childhood when he remembers that he encountered the Shtriga years ago.
Yeah, 'cause he's been so easy
to find up to this point.
Yeah, it's a shame.
must have beat you to the punch.
They're not conscious.
How do you think
they caught pneumonia?
I'm betting it'll be a while
before he goes home.
but it only takes one mistake.
You got that?
It's kind of like a witch, I think.
I don't know much about them.
Shtrigas are invulnerable to all weapons
devised by god and man.
which ain't gonna be a cakewalk.
It's my fault.
- But I got to see Asher.
- Hey, Michael.
Every 15 to 20 years, it hits a new town.
You'll know something as soon as
I wasn't packing, which is probably
a really good thing 'cause
Send you here? He didn't send you here.
He sent us here.
Fort Douglas, Wisconsin.
We're closing up.
Are you all right?
Dad knew this was
unfinished business for me.
You have to believe me, okay?
What if you shoot me?
for always following dad's orders.

Sam and Dean investigate the case of a maniacal ghost inhabiting a long abandoned Texas farmhouse known as "Hell House." They believe the ghost is the spirit of a deceased Depression-era farmer who killed his family, but they soon realize it is something far more powerful.
A fire of unknown origin
Two hours out of Richardson.
Well, I knew we're gonna pass
through Texas so...
Same place you always find kids
in a town like this.
he just strung them up,
I swear I don't wanna go anywhere
near this house ever again, ok?
I think it got a little juice
in it, screwing with all the readings.
The reverse cross has been used by satanists for centuries,
but the sigil of sulphur didn't show up in San Francisco until the '60's.
It seems pretty fresh too.
- Professionnals of what?
- Paranormal investigators...
Harry, why don't you tell him about EMF?
Well, we-we-we didn't actually see it,
but we heard it.
And there is no record
he ever killed anyone.
Ok, ok, ok.
A couple of cops said that a poor girl
hung herself in the house.
Remember we still gotta get in there.
What the hell would I do that for?
- You rather it was a ghost?
I'm telling you. Where the story goes...
So tell me Craig, you're into BOC,
Then we found out that this guy Murdock
used to live there so we...
I'm gonna grap something to eat.
That was 20 monks.
concentrating meditative thoughts
like a magnifying glass.
how the hell are we supposed
to kill an idea?
That's right, which means people are gonna keep showing up at the Hell House,
running into him in persons. Somebody could get hurt.
you'll kill this son of a bitch.
What are you trying to do,
get yourself killed?
- Did you get him?
- Oh yeah, they got him.
No one will go in anymore.

Sam has a reunion with a girl he once met, Meg, but it turns out that she is using the brothers to lure their father John to his doom.
Hey, Meredith. Listen,
this is the place.
Did you see any overturned furniture,
broken glass, signs of struggle?
- no weapons, no prints, nothing.
- I'm telling you,
Maybe it was.
I'm a professional.
I'm offended that...
- Is there any connection between them?
- Nothing I could tell.
Well, I'm glad you were wrong.

And from what I gather,
it's pretty risky business, too.
Dad, if you get this,
No, no, it's great. Good for you.
I'm not gonna live this life forever.
And that the victims were from Lawrence.
you're dumber than you look.
and he'll come
Baby, I'm already there.
I liked that you were watching me.

- You don't have to worry about us.

No more excuses, okay?
From you or me.
Not surprising. Probably
You didn't see
who was driving the truck?
What happened tonight,
you and cassie are marked, okay?
How do you know he died,
his hatred was frightening.
No, there was one more.
He was a good man.

for 40 years.

Don't leave the house.

- We drove past the house, and we stopped. Ran in.
- I drew the short straw.
Thats it, end of story.
- Hes sick, and uh
.the doctors say theres nothing they can do.
- You know, this whole I- laugh-in-the-face-of-death
thing? Its crap. I can see right through it.
- But when people see something they cant explain, theres controversy.
- Come on, Sam, a faith healer?
- Yeah, or into their wallets.
- Well, yeah, but
- I went into a coma. Doctors said
I wouldnt wake up, but I did.
- I looked into your heart, and
you just stood out from all the rest.
- Oh, yeah, we, uh, cant get it workin.
Just froze at 4:17.
- Have faith, Mrs. Rourke.
- Its inoperable.
In six months, the doctors say...
- LeGrangehes trading a life for another.
- Oh, hes not doing it.
Something else is doing it for him.
- Theres reaper lore in pretty much every
culture on Earth. Go by a hundred different names.
- Okay, so we cant kill Roy, we cant
kill death. Any bright ideas, college boy?
- No! No, please!
- Hes not a healer.
- He healed you.

It hibernates for years at a time.

We'll never out run it.
